The role of DRE in the rural segment
Utility-scale RE systems are considered as preferred options for power sector decarbonization. However, owing to challenges associated with their on-ground implementation and also considering a socio-economic developmental perspective, there is a need to review the role of DRE systems in the rural segment.
While there is evidence of successes established through different pilot demonstrations, large-scale adoption of these systems has been a challenge. The present discussion will focus on the need and potential architectures of the solution to facilitate large-scale adoption of DRE systems in the rural segment. This will result in transitioning to a more sustainable and resilient energy landscape, benefiting individuals, communities, and the planet as a whole.
